Road works and the road closure will commence on Monday 13 May 2024. During this time the northbound bus stop (located on the corner of Ballina St and Park Lane) will be temporarily relocated to the corner of Byron Street and Ballina Street (directly outside The Lennox Hotel).
Project information
Ballina Shire Council is preparing to construct a new permanent concrete roundabout at the intersection of Ballina Street and Allens Parade, Lennox Head, with works due to commence from Monday 13 May 2024.
The current temporary roundabout at the intersection of Ballina Street and Allens Parade was installed in 2021 as part of a suite of measures to reduce traffic speed and improve safety. Due to the success of the temporary roundabout the new permanent structure was funded through Council’s Capital Works Program.
What to expect
- The northbound lane of Ballina Street, between The Coast Road and Allens Parade, will be closed until the end of May 2024.
- Motorists entering the town centre will need to detour via The Coast Road and Byron Street to access the town centre. See the closure map below for details.
- Residents of Allens Parade, Dress Circle Drive, and Pinnacle Row will also need to detour via The Coast Road and Byron Street when travelling northbound.
- The southbound lane (exiting the town centre) will remain open during the project.
- The northbound bus stop (located on the corner of Ballina St and Park Lane) will be temporarily relocated to the corner of Byron Street and Ballina Street (directly outside The Lennox Hotel).
Construction of the new roundabout is expected to be completed by the end of May 2024.
