CDC NSW was proud to sponsor the 30th anniversary of the Ronny Gibbs 7s Tournament, held in Bourke, NSW from 24 to 27 August 2026, supporting one of Far West New South Wales’ most respected and enduring youth sporting events.
Founded by Steve (Bear) Hall and named after former rugby league player and Bourke local Ronny Gibbs, the tournament has spent three decades using sport as a vehicle to encourage young people to stay engaged in education, lead healthy lifestyles and pursue opportunities beyond their local communities.
As a long-standing supporter of grassroots sport and community initiatives across New South Wales, CDC NSW is committed to investing in programs and events that create positive opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. The sponsorship reflected CDC NSW’s strong commitment to youth empowerment, diversity and inclusion, community wellbeing, and reconciliation.
CDC NSW CEO Joshua Peacock said the organisation was proud to support an event that continues to make a lasting impact on regional communities and the generations of young people.
“The Ronny Gibbs 7s Tournament is much more than a sporting competition. For 30 years it has created opportunities for young people, strengthened communities and inspired the next generation through teamwork, education and participation,” Mr Peacock said.

The tournament has become a well-recognised pathway for young people from regional communities, providing opportunities to develop confidence, leadership skills and lasting connections through sport. Over the years, many participants have gone on to achieve success both on and off the sporting field, reinforcing the tournament’s reputation as a catalyst for personal growth and community pride.
CDC NSW’s sponsorship also helped raise awareness of career opportunities within the transport industry and strengthened engagement with communities across regional New South Wales.
